Little Britain Series 3 Filming At the BBC

Little Britain audience tickets were announced while we were on holiday in Ireland so I thought we had missed out completely… but at almost the very last minute, after much weeping and wailing I managed to get a golden ticket to go to an evening of Little Britain filming at the BBC! The wonderful Tara from The David Walliams Fansite managed to get some and I became the proud owner of a pass to comedy heaven. Poor old Jamie had to stay at home though and have tea and biscuits. The trip to London let me meet up with some comedy friends who I know through the programme and take some silly photographs of them, and of course promote their websites. After lunch with a friend who has no website but really should, we met another fan who had once asked David to marry her and scared him. We talked about the following day when they would be enjoying the filming with fellow webby folks such as Matt and David (and The Boosh's) personal autograph stalker and a young man who creates animated avatars and video montages (and has a thing for celebrity tongues). I had to leave the pub and journey to White City (not some racist Daily Mail town, a place in London) in the rain to queue for two hours. At this point, I contacted the wonderful ticket-holding Tara and her other mad comedy fan friends to join me in the drizzley weather (covered by the handy new shelter at the Beeb) to hang around for a small eternity in order to guarantee entry. It worked. And I learnt it's a small small world in the internet comedy fan world we live in. Eventually we got into the studio and saw ther great new (more crowded) title sequence and lots of new top secret Little Britainy things which I cannot possibly mention. Well, here are some snippets. Sort of...

"...I'm well gonna be the new Abi Titchmarsh!" "Bring in the horse..." "Tonight, Matthew... eh eh eh ..." "Michelle Pfeiffer and her husband Danny DeVito..." "Meeeeester Dudley..." "Florence, dear?" "No, it's Fred..." "I can get you a lentil bake on a flight to Vancouver..." "Yeah I know" "We are beautiful, no matter what they say..." "I would like a painting of a disappointed horse please" "Do be do be doo dooo.... dooo... do" "Computer says no." etc.

The studio sets that were used that night were Roy's shop, the Scarecrow And Mrs King (The Llandewi-Brefi pub) and Carol's travel agency. Lots of VT was shown and most of it was very good. Except a pissing old woman, more from the vomitting Tory lady and naked Bubbles fighting her equally naked doppelganger are not funny, just crude. Luckily the weird surreal humour I love was present in a number of new sketches that I shall not reveal for now.
